The Part 3 test is the final examination that you will face on the road to becoming an ADI. This part is designed to see how good a driving instructor you are and how you are able to cope and adapt to differing situations. As part of the course you are supplied not only with the materials to help you study but also with practical advice, tips and resources.

Part 3: The test of your ability to give instruction

The object of this test is to assess the value of the instruction you give and your ability to pass this knowledge onto the pupil. The test is in two parts and takes place in car, each of which lasts approximately half an hour. You will be asked to show your knowledge and ability by giving practical driving instruction to the examiner, who poses in the first part of the test as a learner with limited knowledge, and in the second part as a pupil who is at test standard.

The training we will provide you with to complete your part three is as follows:

• Visual Aids

• Manuals

• All briefings

• Prepared drawings

• A full set of cue cards

This part of the course will also be completed as 40 hours in car training. You will be taught how to brief and instruct both a partly trained pupil and then a pupil who is at test standard. This course will include each and every subject that could be used by your examiner on the day of the test. It will also be possible for you to sit in on an actual driving lesson being given to a pupil by a qualified driving instructor.
